Jan Vertonghen Provides Update On Tottenham Hotspur Future

Jan Vertonghen has revealed that he is weighing up “the pros and cons” of staying at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the end of his current deal.

The 32-year-old will see his current contract at Spurs expire on June 30, and a number of clubs are said to be interested in signing the Belgium international on a free transfer.

Vertonghen has said that he is currently assessing his options due to the break in football.

“I’m in a process right now that I have to grab a piece of paper and write down the pros and cons of the options I will have soon,” Vertonghen told De Kleedkamer.

“I will really have to decide what I want in my career. In three to four years, I will normally return to the place where I will likely settle down.

“I have to start thinking about where I still want to live, what language I want to learn, what culture I still want to live in. And also very importantly: which competitions and prizes I still want to win. I don’t want to regret anything in my career.”

Inter Milan are thought to lead the race for the versatile defender, who has scored twice and provided one assist in 26 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side this term.
