After his appointment on Monday, Quique Setien took charge of his first session as Barcelona coach on Tuesday morning, even before putting pen to paper on the contract.
Barca B players Inaki Pena, Ronald Araujo, Riqui Puig, Carles Perez and Ansu Fati have all joined their senior teammates for the session. The presence of Puig serves as a particular source of optimism for the Blaugrana fans who are eager to see the La Masia start promoted to the first team.
Arthur who continues his recovery work has joined the team for a part of the training. There was no sight of Jean-Clair Todibo, however, who is reportedly still set to join Schalke despite the managerial change.
Quique was in charge of Barca training on Tuesday morning.
Five Barca B players joined the session, including Piqui Puig.
Arthur took part in some of the teamwork.
Todibo was a no-show with his Schalke move nearing.
As a reminder, Barca new boss is set to officially sign his Barcelona contract this afternoon. Here is the complete schedule:
13:30 CET: Barca’s new boss will officially sign a two-and-a-half-year deal.
14:00 CET: Photo session at the Camp Nou stadium.
14:30 CET: Setien’s debut presentation and press conference as a new coach.
Setien replaces Ernesto Valverde who was sacked on Monday night. The 61-year-old was without a job since his Real Betis’ resignation in 2019. He is already liked by Barca fans because of his coaching style which is inspired by late Johan Cruyff.
